Last week at the Global Stage for Innovation (CES2020) Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda presented the concept for the world’s first urban incubator dedicated to the advancement of mobility at the foothills of Mt. Fuji in Japan.
Envisioned as a living laboratory to test and advance mobility, autonomy, connectivity, hydrogen-powered infrastructure, and industry collaboration, the Woven City aims to bring people and communities together in a future enabled by technology yet grounded in history and nature.
As part of the team led by BIG - Bjiarke Ingels Group, MIC developed an innovative mobility strategy that envisages an integration of all the most cutting-edge Toyota technologies with a strong focus on driverless vehicles, micro-mobility and shared modes.
The first phase of about 50.000 sqm is planned to break ground in 2021.
