Sahl Hasheesh is a high quality world-class new resort city located approximately 18 kilometers south of the coastal city of Hurghada. The site consists of approximately 41 million square meters. Phases 1 and 2 of the Resort, comprising an area of approximately 12 million square meters, are currently under development in accordance with an existing master plan covering those phases. The balance of the Sahl Hasheesh site (the master plan area) has an area of approximately 28 million square meters and comprises the future Phase 3 of the project.
MIC was part of the planning team led by WATG and its role was to develop a series of transportation strategies for the overall Master Plan in order to have an integrated multi-modal strategy developing in detail the followings aspects:
- Traffic, transportation and mobility strategies verified through macro and micro-simulation modelling.
- Road network strategies
- Preliminary road design
- Public transport strategies
- Parking strategies
- Pedestrian, cycling and green modes strategies
- Access point assessment
- Servicing strategies.
